Lamont   Mobile Office Hours

Navigating the bureaucracy of the federal government can be   frustrating. As your Congressman, one of my most important responsibilities   is to serve as a link between you and the federal government. Although I   cannot override the decisions made by a federal agency, I can often intervene   on a person’s behalf to answer questions, find solutions, or just help cut   through the red tape.

These   services are available Monday through Friday in my Hanford (Kings) and   Bakersfield (Kern) offices. However, I wanted to ensure that all my   constituents had access to this opportunity so I began my Mobile   Office Program. This program affords residents who are unable to   visit my offices the opportunity to meet with my staff and receive services   at a more convenient location.

I   wanted to let you know that a member of my staff with be in Lamont   this coming Monday, September 16 at the Lamont Family   Apartments Community Center located at 7022 Di Giorgio Road, Lamont,   California 93241 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM to provide   assistance in any way they can.

I   hope you are able to stop by with any questions or concerns you may have. I   especially encourage you to get one-on-one assistance if you are having   difficulties with a federal agency.

Should you have additional questions   or if you would like to schedule an appointment in advance, you can email Gaby   Castaneda or call my Bakersfield Office at (661) 864-7736.   Pre-arranged appointments, however, are not required and walk-ins are always   welcome.

Sincerely,

David G. Valadao

BHC-SK is a 10-year initiative where communities are taking action to make where they live healthier. They are doing this by improving employment opportunities, education, housing, neighborhood safety, unhealthy environmental conditions, access to healthy foods and more. The goal: to build healthy communities for the next generation.

The purpose of the BHC-SK Internship Program is to assist the BHC-SK Action Teams in their efforts to engage the youth and members of the communities of South Kern (Arvin, Greenfield, Lamont, and Weedpatch) in their work.  It is also for interns to explore service and career opportunities within their home community, and to help them contribute to the work of BHC-SK and the strengthening of the communities of South Kern.

Beautiful Parks

April 2013 Youth Leaders with Building Healthy Communities South Kern recommended to both Board of Bear Mountain Parks and Recreation and Kern County Parks and Recreation Commissioners that they work together to make their parks safer and …more family friendly as part of their Beautiful Parks, Healthy Communities Campaign. Their work will impact Lamont Park, Rexland Park, DiGiorgio Park and Weedpatch Park. To learn more and get involved please contact BHC Youth Coordinator, Amerika Nino at 661-205-3866 and/or bhcskyouth@yahoo.com.

July 2013 The KCPR Commissioners unanimously voted to move a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors to
create ordinances based on the youths recommendations. Almost there!!

Congratulations Clinica Sierra Vista on the Grand Opening of the Greenfield Community Clinic! For the first time the residents of Greenfield have a way to get their health needs served in their own community. Thanks to CSV and all of their partners and supporters for making Health Happen in Greenfield.
