Univision will hire up to ten graduates to work as Health Fellows for a period of six months, with a possible six-month extension. The Fellows will be assigned to support Univision’s Health Unit and focus on coverage of the new health care law and how it impacts California Latinos.
Fellows will work as full-time, temporary employees of Univision and will be paid a gross amount of $700 per week, less applicable deductions and withholdings. In addition, Univision will provide Fellows with health insurance benefits as of the first of the month following 25 days of employment. Univision will also give each Fellow a relocation allowance in the gross amount of $500 (if applicable), and will provide the Fellow with assistance on housing information and transportation, which will be the Fellow¹s responsibility.
The Fellows will be treated as regular employees and will have the supervision and evaluation by each of the Unit¹s coordinators. Univision will provide several days of training and orientation for each Fellow when they begin the program. At the completion of the fellowship, the Fellows may be considered for a regular position at Univision.
For Summer/Fall 2013, the Fellows will be assigned to the Health Unit, although these assignments may change in the future of the program. Fluency or a high level of proficiency in written and spoken Spanish is required. Positions will be located in both Los Angeles, California and Miami, Florida.
We are looking for highly driven multimedia journalists who are proficient in digital storytelling. Shooting, editing and writing skills are a must.
Health Unit: The fellows will form part of the Health Unit which is led by Univision¹s Chief Medical correspondent Dr. Juan Rivera and is dedicated to researching and producing comprehensive and relevant health-related news stories for both broadcast and digital. Their work will be featured on Univision.com and support stories and reports that air on Univision Network News. Some fellows will support the creation of a feature-length documentary and a new health series. They will do camera work, editing, research, writing and production.
